Commissioner for Education visits ITS Freshers’ Day

The Commissioner for Education, Chief Justice Emeritus Vincent A. De Gaetano, visited Freshers’ Day at the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) campus as the new academic year gets under way.

The Commissioner was welcomed by Dr Claire Briffa, Deputy CEO of ITS. The Institute currently hosts more than 700 full time students, around 300 of whom are new students. Together with part time students, the ITS student population amounts to approximately 1,200.

The Office of the Ombudsman participated in the annual Freshers’ Day event with an information stand providing students and academics with information about the roles and functions of the Parliamentary Ombudsman and the Commissioner for Education.

The initiative forms part of the Office’s ongoing outreach efforts to raise awareness of its services and bring the institution closer to students and the wider public.

At the beginning of the new academic year, the Parliamentary Ombudsman and the Commissioner for Education wished students and academics a productive and successful year.

The Office of the Ombudsman will also participate in the forthcoming Freshers’ Week activities at the University of Malta and MCAST.
