The Parliamentary Ombudsman, Judge Joseph Zammit McKeon, and the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Raymond Galea, addressed a group of elderly residents during an information session organised by the Paola Local Council.
During the session, the Ombudsman explained the role and functions of the Office, outlining how its services can support older persons when they encounter difficulties with the public administration.

Prof. Galea focused on health related issues affecting elderly persons. He explained how his Office investigates complaints concerning the public healthcare system and works to address shortcomings where they arise. He also highlighted common challenges faced by older persons when accessing medical care and how these can be resolved through the Commissioner’s intervention.
The session was interactive, with attendees engaging directly with the Ombudsman and the Commissioner through questions and discussion.
This initiative forms part of ongoing outreach efforts to raise awareness of people’s rights and to ensure that the public knows how to seek redress in cases of maladministration.
