The Commissioner for Education delivered two educational talks to two groups of students at St Paul’s Missionary Secondary School in Rabat as part of the Office of the Ombudsman’s ongoing outreach programme.

Chief Justice Emeritus Vincent De Gaetano addressed two groups of Year 10 students and their teachers during interactive sessions focused on good governance and the role of the Ombudsman. The visits formed part of a series of educational talks aimed at increasing awareness among young people about public administration and their rights.

During the sessions, the Commissioner for Education explained the duties and powers of the Ombudsman, with particular emphasis on the Ombudsman’s role as an independent mediator between the public and public institutions.

A key focus of the sessions was the right to good administration. The Commissioner for Education stressed the importance of transparency, responsibility, and respect for the rule of law in a democratic society. Students were encouraged to be aware of both their rights and duties and to recognise the role of strong institutions in ensuring effective and fair governance.

These educational talks form part of the Office of the Ombudsman’s commitment to promoting civic awareness and reinforcing democratic values among younger generations.
